When fall rolls around, leaves change colors, and days turn colder, it is time to close your pool for the winter. We suggest preparing your robot for storage at the same time you close your pool.
Note: If it is time to store your robot for winter, but it was not operating properly before closing the pool, we strongly recommend sending it to one of our service centers to get a tune up and repair before spring rolls around.
Properly storing your pool cleaner during the winter will ensure that your pool cleaner is ready to tackle any job come spring. You should take a few precautions when storing your cleaner in the offseason. Storing your cleaner isn’t complicated; just be sure to follow these steps:
- Disconnect your pool robot from the power supply during storage.
- Make sure that your robot is completely dry. Water expands when it freezes so we want to make sure to get all the water out of the robot. If needed, use a hairdryer or a large fan blowing on it over a few hours to get it dried up. Alternatively, you can place the robot in the sun with its filters removed and hood open (Noya models).
- Roll the power cord up like a garden hose ensuring there are no kinks in the line. This will help in the spring when ready to put your robot back to work.
- Remove and thoroughly clean any leaves or debris from your filter baskets before storing your robot so you can start afresh in the spring.
- Lastly, store your robot out and away from the elements. Ideally, you want to store your robot in a location that is away from all elements, including direct sunlight. Also avoid extreme temperature fluctuations.
Once all of this is done, you can sit back and snuggle by the fire. Your robot will be ready to go to work in the spring.
